The Rotary Club Of Sovereign Harbour

The Sovereign Harbour Rotary Club

People ask us "What is Rotary like and what would be expected of me if I join, I hear it's Business People, will cost a lot of money and take up a large amount of my time". Well, if you ask our members they will tell you, "We are Rotary, but not as you know it".

The main objective of a Rotary Club is 'Service'. We foster and encourage the idea of 'Service above Self'.

Our Club is made up of a group of diverse personalities. We have all worked in various occupations from being a Milkman to a Bank Manager, and now we all want to put something back into the community.

Although, we are the youngest Rotary Club in Eastbourne, we have in our short existence worked very closely with several local Charities, including Children with Cancer Fund, You Raise Me Up, Memory Lane, Missing People and Eastbourne Riding for the Disabled as well as several local Community groups.

We raise funds for these Charities by bucket collecting at Eastbourne Airbourne, Morrisons, Homebase, Tesco's and the Harbour. We also hold two or three social evenings at The Smugglers Inn in Pevensey each year. In the last seven years, we have raised over £140,000 for our local Charities.

We also have one International Charity that we support, My Family Children's Home in Mongolia. Where one of our members visits each year.

We meet weekly on a Tuesday evening at Seasons on The Waterfront. Visitors are always welcome to join our relaxed and friendly get together.
