Thieves have targeted an Eastbourne Church.
They broke into Greenfield Road Methodist Church in Greenfield Road through a side window, overlooking a narrow alleyway, before breaking into the Minister's office.
A green metal safe containing church records was taken, cupboards were ransacked and a small amount of cash was also stolen, before they made off through a fire exit.
It happened some time between midday on Sunday (24 April) and 6am the following morning.
PC Tom Thorpe, of the Eastbourne Police neighbourhood response team, said: "The stolen safe would have needed at least two people to lift it. "And given the damage caused inside the building it is likely a lot of noise would have been made. We'd like to know if any witnesses were about in the Greenfield Road area who may be able to help with our investigation."
