Suspected WW2 Mine Found At Birling Gap

Birling Gap Coastguard were called into action last Wednesday (3 August) to reports of a possible World War 2 sea mine being found.

The suspect object was found on the beach and on further inspection, it turned out to be a refrigeration condenser.

Coastguards are praising the member of the public for raising the alarm and are asking us to always dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard if we find a suspicious item on the beach.
