Eastbourne MP Caroline Ansell has welcomed news that crime has fallen in Sussex by 7% since 2010.
National crime is also at its lowest ever level, according to figures from the independent Crime Survey for England and Wales.
“This is a welcome reduction in crime across the force area and thanks must go to the police for doing a super job in Sussex, and in Eastbourne, in the face of some tough financial times since 2010,” said Caroline.
“Of course, a drop in crime doesn’t mean no crime and we must remain vigilant here in Eastbourne to deter criminals from operating in or coming to our town to commit offences, especially through the summer tourist season.
“I have regular meetings with Eastbourne police who keep me informed of any issues in the town and I will continue to take a big interest in policing.”
The drop in Sussex were for crimes recorded from June 2010 to December 2015.
