Fire crews from across East Sussex are fighting a fire at PJ Skips on the A22 between Eastbourne and Hailsham.
A total of eight appliances are on the scene, with crews from Eastbourne, Pevensey, Herstmonceux, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield and Mayfield tackling the flames. Two water bowsers from Burgess Hill and Uckfield and an aerial ladder platform from Hastings are also on the scene.
The emergency services were called at 8.10pm this evening and those living nearby are being urged to keep their windows shut.
It's not thought that anyone was on the site when the blaze broke out.
The northbound carriageway of the A22 is shut and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service believe they'll be on the scene all night dowsing the flames.
UPDATE AT 1AM: The fire service say they still have all units on the scene, with extra support staff and specialist units. Sussex Police report that they have been stood down. The A22 remains closed on the northbound carriageway between Polegate and Hailsham.
