Polegate’s MP, Maria Caulfield, has expressed her disillusionment after talks that were being facilitated by ACAS again broke down between Govia Thameslink Railway & the RMT yesterday (15 August) without any resolution.
The news was joined this morning by confirmation that rail fairs will increase by 1.9%, at a time when restricted timetables remain in place across the South & South East.
Maria said, “I was dismayed when ACAS confirmed talks between GTR & the RMT broke down yesterday. This has left me in no doubt that the only option is for the Government to step in and knock heads together in order to get talks back on track.
“Today’s announcement that fairs will increase is an insult and pours further salt into the wound of rail users who have seen months of delays to their journeys.
“This whole sorry saga requires immediate intervention, and I hope that the Government are up to that task.”
