Two of Eastbourne’s best known politicians are to open this year’s Wyntercon.
Leader of the Borough Council, David Tutt and former MP, Stephen Lloyd will welcome the crowds to the town’s own Comic Con at the Winter Garden in October.
The event, which takes place over the first weekend of the month (1-2 October), will offer star signings, children’s educational workshops and family-friendly genre entertainment.
Event organiser, Andy Kybett, expressed his delight in such prominent local figures adding their support, saying, “I believe Eastbourne has a lot of untapped potential, with its strong cultural heritage, as well as being a popular tourist destination. Our aim with Wyntercon has always been to help increase the town’s profile while boosting its tourism economy for local businesses. In addition, as a charity-focused CIC (Community Interest Company) we support Families for Autism and Starlight Children’s Foundation, both of which have local Eastbourne branches.”
Last year, more than 2,500 tourists visited the town, boosting the town’s economy by some £500,000 during the autumn months.
