Direct from its success in London’s West End, a sold out UK tour and standing ovations at every performance, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is returning to the Congress Theatre for one-night only tonight (18 August).
Folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel began their music career in the early 60’s as Tom and Jerry at just 15 years of age. After a name change and a live audition their overly poetic songs and keen harmonies were spotted by Columbia records. 1965 saw the second release of The Sound of Silence, revived to include electric guitar and a rhythm section and the rest, as they say, is history.
Using huge projection photos and original film footage, this 50th Anniversary Celebration tour charts that epic history. The Simon and Garfunkel Story tells of the humble beginnings of two young boys from Queens, the songs that shaped them, the split, their solo careers and the dramatic 1981 reunion concert.
The show also features a full live band performing all the hits including Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound and many more.
Famed in an era of social and political upheaval Simon and Garfunkel won Grammy awards from ‘Best Original Score’ for film The Graduate to a Lifetime Achievement Award and have been inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame.
Experience the moving and powerful musical journey of The Simon and Garfunkel Story at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne on Thursday 18 August. Tickets available online or call Box Office on 01323 412000.
