Voting is now underway in the Sussex Food & Drink Awards including the Food Shop of the Year award, sponsored by Wealden District Council.
“We are sponsoring this year’s award for the best Sussex Food Shop to draw attention to the wealth of small food and farm shops there are around us, offering the highest quality in the midst of our rural communities,” said Councillor Roy Galley, Cabinet member for Economic Development. “Many of them provide an outlet for our local farmers and growers. Agriculture is more than twice as important to the Wealden economy than it is nationally, and plays an important role in defining our landscape.
“Please take time to vote for your favourite finalist in the local food shop category and other award categories in this year’s Sussex Food & Drink Awards.”
The shortlist for the Sussex Food Shop of the Year is as follows:
Adsdean Farm Shop, Funtington, West Sussex
Charlie’s Farm Shop, Bury, West Sussex
Cowdray Farm Shop, Midhurst, West Sussex
Crossbush Farm Shop, Arundel, West Sussex
Dyke Farm Shop, Pulborough, West Sussex
Eggs to Apples, Hurst Green, East Sussex
Perryhill Orchards Farm Shop, Hartfield, East Sussex
Sharnfold Farm Shop, Stone Cross, East Sussex
Swains Farm Shop, Henfield, West Sussex
Tablehurst Farm Limited, Forest Row, East Sussex.
You can vote online. It only takes a minute or two and every vote counts. Other categories are for:
Sussex Food Producer of the Year
Sussex Drink Producer of the Year
Sussex Eating Experience of the Year
Sussex Butcher of the Year
Sussex Farmers’ Market of the Year
Voting takes place until 24 September. Last year over 10,000 people voted in the Sussex Food and Drink Awards and the judging panel is hoping that even more people will vote for their favourite food and drink heroes this year.
