Eastbourne tennis star, Johanna Konta, is through to the third round of the US Open after collapsing in the New York heat and humidity during her second round clash with Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria.
After comfortably winning the first set, the British Number One was fighting to push for a tie-break as she trailed the second set, when she dropped to her knees. Medical staff rushed to her aid and applied ice packs to the World Number 14.
The match was stopped for around a quarter of an hour to allow Konta time to recover. The pause didn’t seem to affect Jo’s game, as she went on to take the match 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
Jo now faces Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic in the third round.
