A petition’s been launched to save one of Eastbourne’s skateparks.
It was announced this week that the site by the Sovereign Centre has been shut on safety grounds, following an inspection.
Sian Hutchinson, who’s a mother and a teacher with special needs education in the town, is calling on the Borough Council to include her and MP, Caroline Ansell, in discussions over the site’s future. She believes the community would come together to raise funds to help restore the facilities in the park.
The park is well known in the skating community, attracting extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the world, as well as providing a haven for young people in Eastbourne.
The petition is already nearing 800 supporters and Sian hopes to have hit 1000 by tomorrow (12 September).
