A body’s been recovered from the foot of Beachy Head.
Police were alerted to an unattended bag at the edge of the cliff at 11.30am yesterday (19 September).
Coastguard assisted in a search of the area and a man’s body was discovered on the beach, which was recovered by Newhaven RNLI.
Second Coxswain Lee Blacknell commented, “This is always a difficult job for our volunteer crews who handle the tough task with the greatest of dignity & respect. As always, our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the casualty.”
His death isn’t being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s officer has been informed.
