An appreciative crowd watched the ‘Blue Riband’ Singles events at the Club Finals. The Men’s Final saw former club champion Francois Celada take on Colin Greenaway. Early exchanges were even with the score 4-4 after 6 ends, but Francois then edged away to lead 13-9 after 16 ends played. Francois picking up 5 shots over the next 2 ends, it looked all over for Colin and with 20 ends played the score was 19-11 in Francois’ favour.
Colin showed spirited resistance and closed the score to 19-16 but it was Francois who took singles on the final 2 ends to take the title 21-16. In the Ladies Singles multiple former champion Rachel Mackriell found Sandra Richardson in top form. Sandra took the lead on the 5th end 6-3 and never looked back, running out the winner by 21 shots to 9 and taking the title to add a new name to the Honours Board.
