Jamie Matthew Gooch from Moore Park, stole £5,500 from Ladbrokes on 9 February and held up another bookies in Hailsham on 15 February stealing more than £300.
The 19-year-old was also sentenced for the aggravated burglary at a house in Salehurst Road, Eastbourne, on 4 February in which an Ipad was taken and the 25-year occupant was punched and hit with a baton, suffering cuts and bruises.
Gooch, who has been in custody since he was charged earlier this year, was convicted on 22 July and was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Monday (19 September).
Detective Constable Paul Gray said, "These were very serious offences and the court has already recognise this in the sentencing.
"This was a complex and time-consuming investigation but the outcome this week shows that offenders like this will be tracked down and brought to justice.
"All the people who Gooch threatened or attacked were put in considerable fear and we thank them for their willingness to give evidence at court."
