Eastbourne’s Johanna Konta is still on course for reaching the WTA Finals in Singapore.
The British Number One beat Hungary’s Timea Babos in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, to reach the third round of the China Open.
She’ll now face Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.
25-year-old Konta needs to make it into the top eight to qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore – she’s currently in 11th. A place in the world’s top 10 could also be beckoning for Jo if she continues her run in the China Open.
