A little girl from Eastbourne’s had a busy summer fundraising for charity.
8-year-old Gracie was spurred into action when she found out her grandad had been diagnosed with cancer, so with the help of her friends and teachers at her school, she ran a “kids’ café”, raising £72 for Cancer Research UK.
Having been bitten by the fundraising bug, Gracie vowed to press on and spent time doing odd jobs and gardening for her nan, helping out around the house at home and earned tips by fetching guests at a family party. Gracie decided to use the money to buy items for babies for Eastbourne Foodbank’s Best Start project.
Gracie chose the cause after a family friend told her all about it and explained that not all children get the same lucky start in life that Gracie had. Her hard work paid off and Gracie earned enough to donate 12 sets of bathing bits to Eastbourne Foodbank.
Her mum Sabrina said, “She is such a lovely little girl with such a kind heart always wanting to help others and I'm a very proud mummy.”
