As clowns continue to be spotted around Eastbourne, scaring both young and old, the town’s MP is condemning those taking part in the fad.
Caroline Ansell said, “I hope this is a very much a short lived craze because it’s really getting out of hand with incidents now reported in Eastbourne.
“Everyone likes a prank but to dress up in a clown mask and jump out in front of total strangers is anti-social, extremely distressing for the victims and it’s my fear it could end in tragedy.
“It seems to be spreading primarily across social media and I would ask people not to like videos and or share them. People might think it’s funny to watch, but they need to think: ‘How would I feel if that happened to me?’”
