Eastbourne’s Tourist Information Centre could be heading for double success after picking up two prestigious award nominations at the Beautiful South Awards.
Organised by Tourism South East, Eastbourne Information Assistant, Angela Marsden, is nominated for the ‘Customer Service Superstar’ award, after 26 commendable years of service, while the TIC itself is a finalist for ‘Visitor Information Provider of the Year’, following their silver win last year.
Angela Marsden, ‘Customer Service Superstar’ finalist, has been a friendly face to visitors and locals alike at the Tourist Information Centre since it opened its doors 26 years ago. She was nominated due to her endless enthusiasm and dedication to helping the general public, many of whom now know her on a first-name basis and visit her whilst on their holidays, much like visiting an old friend.
As well as offering an unbeatable service to tourists, Angela has proven herself to be an outstanding example to Eastbourne’s citizens. Going above and beyond outside of her work hours when she has found customers in distress, even previously parting with her own money to pay for a bus ticket to make sure someone got home safe. Last year, Eastbourne Borough Council presented her with a long service award for reaching the milestone of 25 years of service.
Following their win in the Beautiful South and VisitEngland Awards 2015-2016, the Tourist Information Centre is also a finalist for “Visitor Information Provider” after another successful year. This nomination comes a year after they won Silver for the same award and Highly Commended at the Visit England awards for excellence. The Tourist Information Centre team hopes to take home Gold this year and judging for the Visit England awards is soon to commence.
With regular positive feedback and returning visitors, their knowledge and expertise has been gratefully received as the centre has been inundated with feedback forms regarding excellent customer service which encourages visitors to return year after year.
Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism and Enterprise, Phil Evans said, “It is this unbeatable customer service from the Tourist Information Centre that encourages visitors to continuously return to Eastbourne where they will be welcomed by friendly faces.
“This is a fantastic achievement and it is great to see such hard work from the Tourist Information Centre being recognised.”
