Polegate’s MP is poised to Chair her first meeting of the A27 Reference Group, after taking over the position during the summer.
The latest meeting of the group, which will take place in Westminster this morning (24 October), is expected to look ahead to the future of the major Sussex road further to East Sussex County Council announcing the results of a feasibility study on its possible expansion.
Maria Caulfield said, “I am determined to see through this project for residents in my constituency, as well as across Sussex.
“This section of the A27 carries millions of vehicles each year, and acts as a vital portal for tourists as they make their way both into and across the County.
“I am therefore delighted to be chairing this meeting, which, together with my parliamentary colleagues from across Sussex, will also include representatives from local Councils, Highways England, the Federation of Small Businesses, and both the South East & Cost to Capital Local Enterprise Partnerships.
“The Government has stressed its commitment to infrastructure projects, in my eyes the A27 should be one of them, and I look forward to the results of the feasibility study from East Sussex County Council today, so that we can put forward the best bid possible to the Government.”
