Pudsey Bear’s popping into Eastbourne today (26 October) for a world record attempt for the most number of people linking up with teddy bears.
Pudsey will be joined with his friends across the town, including the Henrietta Hippo from the Hippodrome Theatre and Enterprise Eddie from the Enterprise Centre to help children and adults line up with their bears.
Jodie Coomber manager of Greggs said, “I’m delighted that so many of Pudsey’s friends will be able to join us at 3pm. This is going to be such fun, and we also get a chance of setting a new world record.”
The event will take place at 3pm in the Arndale Centre, where participants will be asked to meet outside Shades with their cuddly toy. Everyone will be given a number and the hope is that the town will create a ring around the centre with everyone joined by a bear. The event was devised by the Healthy High Street initiative, which aims to increase businesses in the town.
Greggs will be providing free gingerbread men to the first 400 people who come to the store with their number along with their teddy bear on the day.
Jodie continued, “It’s going to be a great day. We’ve even got the Pentacle Drummers outside the Arndale Centre to drum up some noise. I think even Pudsey wants a go!”
Chief Executive of Eastbourne UnLtd Chamber of Commerce, Christina Ewbank added, “This is an opportunity to raise money for Children in Need, celebrate our high street and more importantly make Pudsey proud and put Eastbourne on the map as the cuddly capital of the country. It’s time for teddies across our town to unite!”
