As the bell of Big Ben rang out in London, Eastbourne joined the nation in falling silent to remember those who've been killed, serving their country.

Silences were held in Victoria Drive, Hampden Park and in the Arndale Centre, as well as in schools and offices across the town.

Armistice Day is marked at the 11 hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month - the time when the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War.
