Eastbourne’s MP believes the arrival of the Coca-Cola lorry to town this Christmas, will be a good thing.
This comes within days of her declaring her support for the Sugar Bill.
Caroline Ansell has spoken to Eastbourne Buzz to explain how she can support both, “I welcome the Coca-Cola lorry to Eastbourne as it draws crowds to the town, it’s good for local traders, and it was very popular last year.
“My support for the Sugar Bill is a separate issue. That is about ensuring consumers have clear and accurate information about how much sugar is in processed foods and drinks.
“It is not an attempt to vilify or ban sugar in foods or tell people what to eat or drink. It’s about making sure everyone can know how much sugar is in products so they can make an informed choice.
“I do share concerns about big multi-national companies advertising their products without being completely clear how much sugar are in them, particularly when we have an obesity problem in Britain. The Sugar Bill will go some way to address these concerns, but it is not a magic bullet.
“People have responsibility to decide for themselves whether or not to buy Coke or any other sugary product, and they can also decide whether or not to come and see the lorry on 17 December.”
