Throughout the year, Bloomsbury House Students at Bedes School, have been fundraising for the JPK Sussex Project which has been formed to provide a Supported Living Centre for people with a learning disability in Eastbourne and those currently living within the surrounding areas.
It ‘kick started’ with Jill Parker, Chairman to the Trustees of the JPK, being invited to the school to speak to the students on the aims and objectives of the JPK and the desperate need for this new facility in the area. It culminated in Jill once again visiting Bedes to receive a magnificent cheque to the value of £1,890.96 in reward of all their fundraising activities.
Head Girl of Bloomsbury, Rosalind Manning said, “The JPK is a very worthwhile cause giving those with disabilities a chance in which we all take for granted. Within Bloomsbury House at Bedes we decided to support JPK as it was a local charity and also in which we had connections and therefore was close to all our hearts. Throughout the year we put on various events including Quiz, Pizza selling and a lip sync battle. We are very proud to have raised £1,890.96 profit around everyone’s commitments and exams. On behalf of Bloomsbury we would like to thank the JPK for their support and wonderful help to assist those in need in our local community.”
Jill Parker responded by saying, “My very heartfelt thanks to Bloomsbury for choosing the JPK to benefit from their fundraising activities. It is very encouraging to know that young people today consider and support the local community, especially those that are disadvantaged in our society. The fundraising efforts of Bloomsbury and support of Bedes will certainly be making a difference in our ability to realise this much needed Centre. Our very grateful thanks to you all.”
