Next year’s summer season will be Eastbourne Bandstand’s longest yet as they reveal a show-stopping line up of over twenty brand new acts and unmissable new themed nights. The Bandstand will take the audience on a musical journey through time, from the 60s through to today’s chart toppers at the iconic seafront venue.
Visitors can dance their way from April through to October as the season begins earlier and finishes later than previous years. With tickets on sale from 1 December, early birds can expect reduced prices in exchange for priceless acts. The extended season features a whole host of new acts, returning bestsellers and fantastic themed nights that are guaranteed to sell out fast.
Exciting highlights include dancefloor filler RUBIX-80’s with ‘Back to the 80s’ and ‘Northern Soul Night’ as the acts relive the 60’s and 70’s. Experience today’s hits in yesterday’s style as Gatsby’s Jukebox performs ‘Swing with a Twist’ and not forgetting themed nights celebrating U.S. singing sensations!
Gracing the stage is an array of tribute acts that have never appeared in Eastbourne, from Bob Marley to The Beatles and even the likes of Katy Perry and Pink. The bestselling Abba tribute band are set to return as they kick off the season in April with a firework finale, as well as Queen, Elvis and Amy Winehouse tributes. Also returning is the Big Band and Swing Sound evening every Thursday as well as the iconic tradition that is the 1812 Firework Concert Night, with an evening of concert music ending with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture.
Themed nights and big screen events are all part of the busy line-up next year, including Eastbourne’s very own Eurovision Party Night. A screening of the Eurovision Song Contest will show on the iconic seafront venue, as well as an interval from the Abbagirls during the intermission with a bar and refreshments.
Audiences will be taken from Europe all the way to the United States for a “Night in Nashville”, featuring Dolly Parton & Friends tribute act. Hits by Madonna, Cher and Tina Turner will be also belted out at the U.S. Diva Show night.
Children can get involved in the entertainment with Kids Party Nights taking place every Tuesday in the summer holidays. The nights are accompanied either by live bands or discos playing music from the charts and family favourites, with free face painting.
Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism and Enterprise, Phil Evans said, “The last year has been a successful year for the Bandstand with a rise in attendance at shows and tribute nights regularly being sold out. It’s fantastic news that next year’s season has been extended and with so many great acts it is already set to be a brilliant year for Eastbourne’s entertainment.”
Tickets go on sale from 1 December with reduced early bird rates for those who purchase their tickets early. The season opens on Friday 28 April with Abba Tribute Show and a firework finale and closes on Saturday 7 October with a Madness Tribute Show.
A free concert will be held at the end of this year on Christmas, Boxing and New Year’s Day to round off a successful year as well as welcome the exciting 2017 line up.
