More than eighty of Polegate’s retired residents braved the cold to join the Mayor, Councillor David Watts, at his Christmas tea party at St John’s Church Hall on Monday (5 December).
Guests were treated to sandwiches and cake with a seasonal twist and were waited on by pupils from Willingdon Community School. Musical entertainment was provided by the Polegate School Choir and keyboard artist, Rod Pooley.
There was much applause when the Mayor presented the young winners of his summer art and photography competition with their prizes.
A raffle raised a total of £393 for the Mayor’s charity, the Polegate Children with Cancer Fund. Thanks are due to Annabel Cottingham and her team who provided the excellent food, to the businesses that donated prizes for the Mayor’s raffle, and the pupils from Polegate and Willingdon Schools. A special thank you goes to the Langney Branch of Barclays Bank, who kindly agreed to match fund the sum raised by the raffle.
