Facebook’s launch of a major new resource called Parent Portal has been praised by Polegate MP Maria Caulfield.
The portal gives parents, teachers and guardians the tools they need to ensure that the children in their care are safe on Facebook.
It aims to foster important conversations between parents and children around online safety and provides information and advice on what to say, when to do it and how to be a good role model, as well as offering connections to safety experts.
Facebook have also joined the online child safety coalition Internet Matters to show their dedication towards this issue.
Maria commented, “It is great to see that Facebook are taking the necessary steps to provide a service to protect our children from the dangers of Facebook and the internet.
This service will be very useful for parents who are unable to communicate with their children about these risks or struggle themselves to understand what the dangers could be.”
