Telly addicts glued to the box over the festive period will spot a few familiar looking shows and famous faces that are due to come to the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne, over the coming months – so why not see them live at the theatre!
Peter Pan Goes Wrong is broadcast on New Year’s Eve on BBC1, this show is from the award-winning and very funny team who first made their name with the riotous The Play That Goes Wrong which triumphantly returns to the Devonshire Park from 8 – 13 May.
Michael Rosen’s beloved We’re Going on a Bear Hunt forms one of the festive treats on offer from Channel4 this Christmas Eve – and you can see the live version at the Theatre from 3 – 5 April which comes to Eastbourne direct from a smash-hit West End run.
Amanda Abbington takes the lead role in the Mike Leigh classic Abigail’s Party (20 – 25 March) before it transfers to the West End, Amanda will be broadcast to millions in the much-anticipated next instalment of BBC’s flagship show Sherlock.
In Sherlock Amanda takes the role of Dr Watson’s wife which is a vast difference to her cringe inducing stage character Beverley who with cigarette in one hand and plate of cheesy-pineapple ones in the other is something of theatrical history.
Elsewhere on the BBC schedules over Christmas is a new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes his collection of awful adaptations of beloved fairy tales – including Snow White – which neatly takes us back to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the hugely popular family pantomime which runs at the Devonshire Park over the entire Christmas period and well into the New Year (ends 15 January).
