A Christmas present of three points was delivered to Eastbourne Borough yesterday (26 December).
After an eventful opening 20 minutes against Whitehawk at Priory Lane, The Sports saw goalkeeper, Charlie Horlock, leave the pitch injured and replaced by Brian Dutton in the 23rd. Whitehawk used the change to their advantage and opened the scoring within 10 minutes. Ryan Worrall drew The Sports level 5 minutes later, only for Hawks’ keeper, Lucas Covolan to find himself red carded and sent off.
After the break, it was the visitors who added to the scoresheet first, just three minutes in, which was quickly followed by another equaliser from Borough, with a header from Mark Hughes.
Nathanial Pinney pushed The Sports ahead, as they made the most of playing only a ten-man team. It was Jamie Taylor who sealed the deal and guaranteed the points for Borough in the dying seconds of the game.
The final score at Priory Lane, Eastbourne Borough 4 – 2 Whitehawk.
