We’re being invited to a free event in Herstmonceux, which could help us to save money.
Wealden District Council’s running the session at the Village Hall on Wednesday 18 January between 1.30-5.30pm. There’ll be a special guest speaker on ‘Smart Energy Villages from 2020’ 3.30-4.30pm.
The idea is to encourage us to switch to Smart Energy meters, which can also help to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
“We’re encouraging our residents to start 2017 on the right foot by coming along to one of these Smart Energy Events,” said Councillor Graham Wells, Cabinet Member for Housing. “As well as finding out about Smart meters you’ll be able to learn the latest in home energy efficiency, get independent advice from energy bill switching experts and winter resilience tips from Citizens Advice. With events taking place across Wealden there’s sure to be at least one near to you and I really recommend coming along.”
The Smart events are being delivered with grant funding from Smart Energy GB and are being run in Wealden’s rural towns and villages which are not connected to mains gas. Wealden District Council is one of only 18 organisations across the UK to receive a grant to encourage rural communities to adopt Smart Energy meters.
There will also be free refreshments at the event and the first 15 people through the door will get a Smart energy goodie bag. To get advice from the Big Energy Saving Network Champions please bring along your latest energy bill.
