A brand new event for Eastbourne has secured a ‘substantial’ Lottery grant.
The Eastbourne Hot Air Balloon Festival, which will take place in the summer (29-30 July), has received a real lift with the new funding. The event has already secured sponsorship from Gardners Books, Gatwick Airport and Eastbourne Borough Council.
Sandy Boyce-Sharpe from Friends of Hampden Park, which is behind the festival, said, “We plan to make this the best event Eastbourne has seen with balloons, helicopters, fun fair, dog show, floral marquee, food and drink and something for everyone from children's area to elegant cream teas. Follow us on social media and we will keep you appraised of additional attractions as they happen. The phone rings daily with people wanting to join in the fun from vintage cars to volunteers.
“We are so excited that the whole town is talking about it and something new, different, and just for Eastbourne.”
A Crowdfunding scheme has also been set up to allow the town to get behind the event.
