A crash in Polegate has seen a lamp post toppled.
It happened at 3.12am on Sunday (15 May) in Station Road near the junction with Porters Way.
A black Mercedes Benz CLS250 hit a parked, white Vauxhall Mokkam, before crashing into a wall and lamp post, bringing the post down.
The driver ran away, but was traced to a local address - he had cut his hand.
Fire crews from Eastbourne and Hailsham were called to the scene and made the area safe.
Police later said that a 24-year-old Polegate man had been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a road traffic collision and drink-driving. After being questioned he was released on bail until Wednesday, 29 June pending further enquiries.
