An Eastbourne councillor has quit the town’s Conservative Party at Town Hall.
Dr Kathy Ballard has resigned from the Eastbourne Group of the Borough Council and wishes to remain as an independent councillor at the authority.
Conservative Group Leader, Tony Freebody, said, "It is with regret that Cllr Ballard has resigned as a member of our group. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her work since she was elected and to wish her well in the future."
On leaving the Conservative Group, Dr Ballard commented, “I have resigned from the Conservative Group because of policy disagreements with them.
“I really enjoy my work as a councillor and wish to represent Eastbourne Borough Council and Meads residents as best I can for the remainder of the term.
“I hope to work with the Administration and the Opposition Groups in a positive way and continue to consider both Groups on friendly terms.”
