Eastbourne and Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell has welcomed a green paper on Industrial Strategy which include plans to invest in 5G technology in the south east region.
The proposals aim to improve the economy on the long term by investing in infrastructure, creating highly skilled jobs and encouraging sectors the country excels in while tackling weaknesses such as productivity and a lack of skills for young people.
“We need to have the most highly-skilled workforce if we are to succeed as a major economy in the years to come so this strategy is welcome,” said Caroline.
“There are clearly challenges, such as better connectivity and infrastructure for the south east and improved productivity, so this green paper is not going to be a pat on the back but more of a call to arms to get the best strategy in place to increase jobs and wealth for everyone.
“I’m pleased local businesses and workers here in Eastbourne will now have the chance to contribute to the strategy by submitting their views.
“I will be making my own submissions and top of the list is improvements to the A27.”
Caroline’s fellow MP Conor Burns, who has worked very closely on the strategy, talked about the green paper to members of the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce this week, when they visited Parliament.
