Eastbourne Borough boss, Tommy Widdrington, has praised The Sports’ performance at the weekend.
Borough came away from Vauxhall Road with a 4-0 win over Hemel Hempstead Town.
“I thought we were well worth the win,” said Widdrington, “To win games you need to score goals when you are on top, so to score three in a six-minute spell is testament to the lads.
“From the performance in the first five minutes, I felt we would go on and win, but even I was a bit surprised by the manner in which we did it. We needed a reaction after Tuesday’s disappointment.
“We should have got something from that game, we worked on bits at training and to see it pay off with a big win shows we have some great characters here.
“As much as I am pleased with the four goals, I am also delighted with our defensive performance. People want us to be consistent, and I believe if we play at this level both defensively and going forward, we are more than a match for anyone in this division.”
Borough are next in action on Saturday (4 February), when they host Hampton and Richmond at Priory Lane.
“We will come up against another side in good form, and they will fancy themselves to get a result,” Widdrington said, “It’s the consistency we have lacked so far, and if we can repeat our performance from Saturday then we will certainly be looking up the table.”
