eastbourne buzz news - Scout Visit To Police

Eastbourne Police welcomed the 1st Anderida Beaver Scouts to their base in Hammonds Drive, where they learnt about what it takes to be a police officer.

The children had the opportunity to sit in a variety of police vehicles and found out about the various equipment used as part of officers' day to day roles. They got to see a demonstration of the stop and search process and were given a tour of the patrol centre with Special Constable Graeme Corbishley and PCSO David Kerr.
Each scout had their fingerprint taken and printed onto a bookmark giving them an insight into how evidence is collected at a crime scene.

SC Corbishley, who is the Beaver Scout leader, said, "The children were great. They got involved in all of the activities and some of the questions they asked were spot on, showing they really understood the job of our officers and staff."

PCSO Kerr said, "I never cease to be amazed by the youth of today; these young people eagerly participated in all the activities and demonstrations, asking relevant questions within creative discussions. It just goes to prove fun and learning really do go together.”
