A man who carried out seven armed robberies, including one in Eastbourne, has been jailed for life.
Nicholas Wordsworth from Enfield, threatened a security guard with a sawn-off shotgun outside Natwest Bank in Brassey Avenue, Hampden Park on 24 February 2016. He made off with the cash box.
The 43-year-old, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob, possession of a firearm (sawn-off shotgun) and ammunition with intent to endanger life, possession of an imitation firearm with intent (gas-powered revolver) and possession of a prohibited weapon (stun gun).
The other armed robberies he had committed were carried out across the south east.
On being sentenced at Kingston Crown Court today (10 February), Wordsworth was ordered to serve at least seven years and nine months behind bars.
