Eastbourne’s MP is encouraging everyone to get involved with the vote into the future of farms on Eastbourne Downland.

Caroline Ansell, who chaired a meeting between both campaigners and the Borough Council into the matter yesterday (10 February), believes it is an opportunity for more of the town to be involved “in what would be a ‘forever’ decision.”

However, the MP also says the vote, which will go out in a special edition of the Eastbourne Review from Monday (13 February), does fall short of the referendum called for by Conservative Councillors at Town Hall.

The Borough Council are asking us whether we would support either the selling of the freehold of the Downland farms, or a cut in services, such grass cutting, community grants, street cleaning and charging £50 for green waste collections.
