We’re being urged to grab our mops and brushes and join in the Great British Spring Clean in Polegate.
Following on from the success of the Clean For The Queen initiative last year, the event has been organised for the 3-5 March, and is been supported by the town’s MP, Maria Caulfield.
250,000 people in 2016 took to their communities to clear up the litter that was plaguing their towns, villages, countryside and coastlines. This year, the initiative is even more ambitious; hoping that 500,000 people participate in the Great British Spring Clean.
Maria recently attended a parliamentary session that was promoting the scheme, and was able to talk to members about the benefits that this scheme could bring.
Speaking afterwards, Maria said, “This is a great scheme that encourages people to engage with their communities and to take responsibility in eradicating its litter.”
“In my constituency, we have seen Lewes District Council working constructively with others to clear up the A27 of litter, which has highlighted the importance of battling littering wherever it may be.
“I therefore fully support this cause and encourage all of my constituents to participate this March.”
