A body has been recovered from the beach at Cuckmere Haven.
The man’s body was spotted by a walker shortly before 11.30am on Wednesday (15 February). Owing to the tides, coastguards were unable to reach the casualty and called for support from the lifeboats. Eastbourne All Weather Lifeboat is currently covering the area and were in the vicinity on engine trials so attended the scene.
The body was recovered and taken to Sovereign Harbour, where it was transferred to Eastbourne mortuary.
Police say the death is not being treated suspicious at this time and enquiries are underway to establish the identity of the man, who is white and believed to be in his mid-40s.
