Eastbourne’s MP has spoken of her disappointment that ASLEF members have rejected a possible deal to end the long-running rail dispute with Southern.
The ballot of members went against the solution brokered by Union leaders and Southern earlier this month.
Commenting, Caroline Ansell said, “I couldn't be more disappointed union members have reject a deal their union had agreed to.
“I thought after long negotiations with ASLEF leaders a resolution had been found, but clearly there's more to do to assure drivers and finally bring this dispute to an end.
“The only ray of light at the moment is that no new driver strike dates have been announced.
“Govia Thameslink and the union can reconvene and start talking without passengers experiencing still further damaging service cancellations. I expect to learn more on Monday.”
