Eastbourne’s MP, Caroline Ansell, is to bid farewell to her office manager.
Ian Lucas is stepping down from the roll to focus on a new challenge. Mr Lucas has been a well-known member of the town for many years, spending nearly 20 years in politics. Previously, he has been a borough councillor and was leader of the council between 2005-2007.
Speaking on social media, Mr Lucas said, “For nearly 20 years I've had a burning urge to be involved in the politics of my beautiful hometown of Eastbourne. At different times, I've sought to compliment, criticise, bring vision, lead, serve, support, be pragmatic and compromise where needed. I have seen both success and failure. However lately, and for various reasons I'm now clear that my work in this regard is done - perhaps not forever, but certainly for now. As such I am standing down from my position with our outstanding MP Caroline Ansell in a couple of weeks, and launching a startup in March which I am very excited about - and which I will post details about shortly!”
