It’s Parliament’s turn to hear the case of a severely disabled teenager from Eastbourne, who has been denied help getting to and from college.
Billy Forse, who is 16, has been told he does not have exceptional circumstances to receive support from East Sussex County Council to receive specialist transport to enable him to get to school every day. Instead, his mum, Leanna, must find a way of getting him there herself and the full time teacher, is now paying out £500 a month in taxi fares to enable Billy to get his education.
Having responded to a survey from Contact a Family about school transport and how it affects families like Leanna and Billy, Leanna is now attending a meeting in Parliament to discuss the issue, along with MP Caroline Ansell.
