Eastbourne Coach Finishers service, MOT and accident repair centre have chosen Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice to be their charity of the year for the second time.

The car and light commercial vehicle repairers, based on Birch Close just off Lottbridge Drove, dedicated hours of their time and a significant amount of effort in 2016 to raising funds for the charity, which provides support and care for children with life-shortening conditions in Sussex.

Russell Turner, ECF’s managing director, said, “Having looked at the activity of the charity and the excellent work they undertake for the children and their families in Sussex, all the team at ECF, and their families, are happy to continue our support for a further 12 months.”

Fundraising and dedication to raising money for charity seem like second nature to Russell and his team; their reception desk doubles up as a donation station, they sell sweets on the charity’s behalf and a team of 7 ladies took part in the charity’s Night to Remember midnight walk last year. Not only this, but their repair and maintenance staff regularly dedicate their time and skills to maintaining Chestnut Tree’s dedicated East Sussex vehicle, which has saved the charity more than £900 in maintenance costs over the last year.

All of this activity raised an impressive £3,150 in 2016 for Chestnut Tree. Terrina Barnes, Corporate Fundraising Manager for the hospice commented, “We are delighted that the team at ECF have put their Hands Up! to help us reach more children in East Sussex. The team have raised a fantastic amount, enough to fund more than 88 hours of Chestnut Tree’s care for an individual child. The hard work of businesses like ECF is fundamental in making sure we can continue caring for local children as well as reaching more who need our help, and we are excited to continue working with the company over the coming year.”

Chestnut Tree is looking for companies like ECF and individuals who are willing to put their Hands Up! to help them reach more children in East Sussex. Whether you would like to fundraise, donate, shop, participate or volunteer, you can find out more online.
