MP Caroline is urging women’s sports and activities clubs in Eastbourne to get involved with Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign, which is helping millions of women and girls get active.
Sport England launched the initiative in 2015 because fewer women than men were regularly active despite 75 per cent saying they would like to do more.
The next phase of the National Lottery-funded campaign has now begun with a range of new adverts featuring real women and girls playing sport and taking part in activities from rugby to roller derby to ju-jitsu and mum and baby classes.
“This has been a really inspiring campaign that has done so much to encourage and help women take part in all kinds of sports and activities,” said Caroline.
“But, of course, more can be done to get even more women and girls involved and so I urge local groups and organisations involved in women’s sport or exercise clubs to get involved in the campaign too by registering online as supporters.
“This means the clubs and groups can assess all of the free tools available online to help get more women active and I hope local groups here in Eastbourne will get involved.”
