Work to revamp Seaside Recreation Ground in Eastbourne should start after the Easter holidays.
The Borough Council has been working with the Friends of Seaside Rec since 2014 to help bring the play area up-to-date. 528 schoolchildren from Roselands School, Bourne School and St Andrews were all consulted on how the area should look, with them choosing the finished design.
There will be a new all-weather path running around the perimeter of the site, flowering planting schemes, including wildflowers and bulbs, trees and hedging planted and the old, unsightly anti-climbing structures and been removed from the pavilion and replaced with anti-climb paint.
Southern Water are also installing water tanks on site to manage storm water surges and reduce flooding risks to nearby homes and businesses. The play area has been extended and new play equipment should be installed by the end of May.
