A cry has gone up to try and persuade former Eastbourne MP, Stephen Lloyd to run for parliament again.
A petition has been created online to convince the Liberal Democrat to stand in the next General Election in 2020.
Mr Lloyd represented the town from 2010-2015, when he lost the seat to Conservative, Caroline Ansell by 733 votes.
Over 320 people have already signed the petition, which will be delivered to Stephen Lloyd in due course.
Commenting on the petition, Mr Lloyd said:
"I am profoundly touched by the petition asking that I re-stand as Eastbourne's MP. The growing numbers supporting it and the many generous comments from local residents have touched me to the core. I loved serving Eastbourne as MP and the privilege of doing so will remain with me forever. I promise all those good people who are asking me to re-stand that I am giving it very, very serious consideration. Eastbourne is a lovely town. It's where I live and work. I remain heavily involved within the local community and I'll always be a passionate advocate for our town."
