A tiny fox cub, rescued in Eastbourne, is coming on well.
Walnunt, as he’s been named by members of East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service, took him in after he was handed into a vets’ practice. He had been found in the middle of a lawn last month.
Just over two weeks old, he had a small wound to his head and his eyes were sealed shut with discharge, so rescuers chose not to try and reunite him with his mum. He was uncoordinated and unstable, showing a range or neurological symptoms.
After having his eyes bathed and cleaned, Walnut was rehydrated and bedded down in an incubator, before being offered some food.
WRAS say he is now improving daily and has moved on from bottle feeding to lapping from a bowl. His carers are hopeful he will have a bright future ahead of him and he has now been reunited with his family.
