Every year Bede’s Prep School in Eastbourne hosts two long-running indoor football tournaments, the Breeze Trophy (U13) and the Elspeth Pyemont Shield (U11), and not for the first time Bede’s has achieved the ‘double’.
The Breeze Trophy brings together ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams from St.Andrew’s, Brighton College and Vinehall but it was Bede’s who came out on top, winning all five of their round-robin matches.
The Elspeth Pyemont Shield is contested by Year 6 pupils and includes local primary schools, Ocklynge, Tollgate and West Rise. The emphasis is always on fun and enjoyment and all the teams played extremely well.
With the Bede’s U13’s making it to the semi-finals of the Sussex Cup this year, and the U11’s winning the Elspeth Pyemont Shield for the 4th year in a row, it would seem that Bede’s are more than capable of holding their own. Not only did the Colts ‘A’ win the tournament, but the Colts ‘B’ came a creditable 3rd out of the 8 teams, missing out on a place in the final on goal difference.
