UKIP does plan to fight the General Election in Eastbourne.
With the Prime Minister calling a snap election for 8 June, the party says it’s prepared to contest the seat here.
A spokesperson said, “We have two potential candidates and we will be organising a hustings as soon as possible. We have a committee meeting arranged for this week, where that hustings will be organised. We are certain that UKIP will hold the balance of power in Eastbourne.
“However good Stephen Lloyd was as MP, with Eastbourne having voted so overwhelmingly for Brexit, having an MP representing a party that was so pro-Europe, surely would not be good for the town.
“As soon as the candidate is chosen, Eastbourne Buzz will be one of the first to know.”
