Sussex are back in Specsavers County Championship action today (21 April) as they hit the road to travel to Trent Bridge to face Nottinghamshire (11.00am start).

This will be the third round of fixtures in this season’s four-day campaign and the second match for Sussex, who were defeated in their opening clash with neighbours Kent at The 1st Central County Ground last weekend.

Despite the defeat, Eastbourne’s Ben Brown was in fine form with the bat, scoring a combined 159 runs across his two innings. He has now posted 418 more Championship runs as a 'keeper than anyone else since 2015 (2,044).

Jofra Archer starred with the ball for Sussex, taking career-best figures of 7 for 67 in Kent’s first-innings. The 22-year-old now has 35 first-class wickets in eight matches, having made his debut against Pakistan at Hove last summer.

Overseas star Vernon Philander has had to return to South Africa for rest, recovery and rehabilitation due to a groin injury picked up against Kent, but Steve Magoffin has a chance of returning to the line-up after missing last weekend with a knee injury.

George Garton and Stuart Whittingham boost the seam-bowling options along with left-armer Adam Barton. The 21-year-old featured for Sussex in their pre-season matches and has already had recent first-class experience with Cambridge MCCU.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

Jofra Archer
Adam Barton
Danny Briggs
Ben Brown (wkt)
Laurie Evans
Harry Finch
George Garton
Steve Magoffin
Chris Nash
Delray Rawlins
Ajmal Shahzad
